Is another wave of pandemic-related grocery buying on the horizon? A new Consumer Brands/Ipsos poll suggests that there’s a much different set of dynamics in play now compared with the beginning of the year. Not only are most U.S. manufacturers better prepared this time around for unusually high demand, about 65% of respondents said they are not going to be stockpiling out of fear of a shortage.
Those who say they are stocking up said they were buying extra of the usual — toilet paper (24%); cleaning and disinfecting products (21%); hand sanitizer and soap (19%); paper towels (18%) and shelf-stable foods (18%).
